This collaborative community-based initiative combines Kings College London’s pioneering work on low-cost sensor environmental sensors with the South East Rivers Trust’s expertise in community engagement.

Early warning system

Our sentinels monitor water quality parameters constantly, enabling communities to detect pollution events in real-time.

River Sentinel in-stream

We are training London-based community scientists in using low-cost sensors for river quality monitoring, simultaneously developing a real-time network of environmental sensors to monitor water quality in the River Wandle and the Hogsmill River.

Employing a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, we aim to empower local communities to identify and take action on water quality issues using data they collect.
